January 11

We spent most of this week in Utah.  We went because Gary's brother, Ron, passed away just before Christmas.  This was the first we could get away because the temple is closed.  On Monday we spent most of the day either flying or waiting in the airport.  On Tuesday we went to see Stella, Ron's wife, with John, Gary's son who flew in from Minnesota because we were there.  We took Stella and her son, Bill, to lunch then spent a good part of the afternoon visiting with her.  It was so good to spend time with her.

That evening we had a family party at Jim and Rebecca's where we got to see most of Gary's family.  It was a great time!

This last picture is Katelyn and her fiance, Preston.  They are planning a wedding in July.  They will be our first grandchildren married!

On Wednesday we went to Heber to see Dorine's daughter, Gina, and family.  We forgot to get pictures of them, but we did get pictures of the ice castle under construction that we went to see.

Wish we could see it when it is finished!!

We did a lot of shopping for things we can't get in Guatemala, and we picked up 120 receiving blankets that Gina had gotten from her community for our service project at the maternity hospital.  We had brought an extra suitcase for them.
We spent all day again flying back to Guatemala on Friday.  It was a long, long day, but we were glad to be back.

  1. The baby blankets are awesome!!! Good job Gina. The ice castle should be twice that size by now, but the weather has been too warm for them to built it. Wish you could have seen how majestic it becomes.
